NIJAR council started the year hosting a tournament for some of the best young players in Spanish national football.
Local club Nijar FSF played against Real Betis Balompi, Granada C.F. and Union Deportiva Almeria in the first Municipal Young Player Football Base Tournament organised by the local authority and by the Atalayas del Levante sports club.
Nijar Sports councillor Sergio Vicente, who was there for the trophy presentation along with Citizen Participation councillor Mari Nieves Lopez, took the opportunity to underline the local authority’s support for young sportspeople.
“This government team has a firm commitment to young talent, in this case football, as we understand that sport is much more than a physical activity, responding to values of achievement, team spirit and discipline, in short to education in values”, Vicente commented.
