Tragic News In Spain As Two Victims Are Murdered In The First Spanish Gender Violence Crime Of 2020

A 27-year-old Spanish man has been arrested for killing his wife and daughter in Spain.

The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a 27-year-old man accused of killing his wife, 28, and his young daughter at their home in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), in the first gender violence crime of 2020 in Spain.

According to the Catalan police, the double homicide occurred around 6:10 am this morning, the feast of the Three Kings, when the man, a Spanish national and a resident of Esplugues, killed his wife and daughter inside his family home.

The Mossos d’Esquadra, together with the Local Police of Esplugues, went to the house, where they arrested the alleged perpetrator of the double crime.

Members of the Emergency Medical System (SEM) also went to the place, where they confirmed the death of both victims.

In the next few days, the detainee will be handed over to the investigating court on duty in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Southern Metropolitan Police Region of Barcelona has opened an investigation to determine the causes of this double homicide, the first gender violence crime in Spain in 2020.

By mid-December of last year a total of fifty-five women had been killed by their partners or former partners in 2019, 1,033 since records began in 2003.

43 children were left orphans and over 80,000 reported cased of gender violence in Spain last year. Dramatic figures for gender-based violence to end the decade.
