SPANISH police have launched a manhunt after a 98-year-old man was struck by a car as he was crossing a road in Vigo, Spain.
The shocking incident, which has caused outrage in the local community, took place this afternoon (January 6) as the elderly man was hit by a car walking across a zebra crossing on Calle Tomás Alonso. The driver then fled from the scene, leaving his victim wounded in the middle of the road.
Once the man was spotted by a local resident, the emergency services were called, where the elderly man was rushed to a nearby hospital. Due to the impact suffered and his considerable age, medical personnel report that he is in serious condition and will now receive round-the-clock care.
The investigation has now been handed over to the National Police who are analysing CCTV footage in a bid to bring the person responsible to justice. Anyone who may have information on the incident is asked to contact the police immediately.
