COSTA BLANCA NEWS: More deaths than births in Marina Alta

THE number of deaths exceed the number of births in the Marina Alta region, according to the most recent findings from the National Institute of Statistics.
Figures relating to 2018 show more people died than babies were born in 32 out of 33 of the Marina Alta municipalities. Only Ondara bucked the trend, with eight more births than deaths.
There were 1,750 deaths in the region as a whole over the year, 584 more than the 1,166 births.
In Javea there were 97 more deaths than births, 60 more in Calpe, 50 more in Benissa and 49 more in Teulada – Moraira.
In the regional capital Denia nine more people passed away than new babies came into the world.
No babies were born at all in l’Atzuvia, la Vall d’Ebo and Castells in 2018.
