THE words Lorraine Palmer, El Oceano Hotel in La Cala de Mijas and charity normally conjure up the Positively Pink charity which Lorraine set up following a breast cancer scare.
It has been going for many years and arranges for screening for mainly British expatriate women living on the Costa del Sol and has basically saved numerous lives.
Not quite so well-known is Positively Blue which she is also involved with and is the sole charity on the Costa del Sol dedicated to raising money to provide a prostate and chest screening for British men who live within the Malaga Province and to help fund the improvement and enhancement of medical treatment.
The fourth annual Blue dinner which took place at the hotel on January 3 had sold out in November of last year and raised an incredible €13,500 for the charity from a combination of ticket sales, raffle and an auction and as ever was supported by local residents, regular visitors and the hard working staff of El Oceano, not overlooking Lorraine and her busy colleague Janet Jones.
There was the usual superb meal and music from both the Soul Brothers (Frankie and James) and all girl tribute band Vixen.
