Holiday maker slammed by emergency services on Spain’s Costa del Sol For Wasting Resources Due To Lack Of Care And Attention Whilst Rescued At Sea

Yesterday we reported here a call out to the emergency services as a lifeless body was reported drifting out to sea in a dingy on the coast of the Costa del Sol in Fuengirola.

Eventually the dingy some way out from shore off Fuengirola was rescued by a patrolling police boat, and the lifeless deemed body turned out to be a sleeping German holidaymaker who was wearing iPhone headphones with music playing.

Helicopters and the patrol boat were deployed as attempts from people on the beach to call to the German woman failed and the body continued to look lifeless with no movement as it continued to drift out into very rough sea and deep waters.

The emergency services were not best pleased when they discovered that the woman was well and alive and had simply fallen asleep, the estimated cost of the rescue standing at around 5,000 euros with the combined costs of helicopter and boat deployment.

A police officer who attended the scene told the Euro Weekly News ” This was a complete waste of resources simply down to lack of care and attention, whilst the woman is very lucky to still be alive if we had not been called out” he said.

” The holiday maker confessed they had a heavy night out the previous evening drinking shots and went to relax on the sea in the small inflatable dingy but fell asleep whilst listening to music and obviously drifted out”

” We understand people come on holiday to relax but they really do need to pay attention and think of potential consequences and apply more common sense, this rescue has wasted vital financial resources of the Spanish emergency services” he said.
