DANCE, theatre, music and exhibitions all feature on the new La Nucia auditorium programme.
La Nucia Mayor Bernabe Cano presented a preview of the events lined up for 2020 at the l’Auditori de la Mediterrania, which this month celebrates the 13th anniversary of its inauguration.
One of the first events is a performance on Saturday January 18 of ‘Vigor Mortis’, the latest work by the OtraDanza dance company director Asun Noales.
Musical highlights later in the year include the Italian chamber music orchestra ‘Le Muse Ensemble’s homage to cine soundtrack master Ennio Morricone and the Valencia Upper Music Conservatory Orchestra’s performance of pieces by Beethoven in March, and the ‘History of Rock’ in October.
There will also be theatre for schoolchildren in Valencian and English.
The Mayor said that in the forthcoming months more events will be added to the auditorium programme, which he described as “very varied”, and planned to “please all members of the public and within the reach of all pockets.”
It is a line-up, Cano affirmed, which will “continue to place La Nucia as one of the best cultural centres in Alicante province.”
More than 1.3 million people have gone through the auditorium’s doors since it opened in 2007 to enjoy performance and art exhibitions, to attend congresses, conferences and social events, or for the municipal library or the 13 schools of art, dance, music, theatre and other specialities.
La Nucia council stressed that more than 65 per cent of performances put on at the auditorium are free or the money from ticket sales goes to a worthy cause.
