DURING 2019 The Generalitat Valenciana, through TRAM d’Alacant, offered a total of 154,588 train and tram circulations in the whole of the regional network in Alicante, which implies that there was an average of 423 services daily.
The data obtained represent an increase over last year of 9 per cent, thanks to the start-up of Line 5 in June, which links Porta del Mar and Playa de San Juan.
All these trains and trams put into service by Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) in the province of Alicante, travelled a total of 2,570,900 kilometres, which is equivalent to giving more than 64 times around the globe, following the axis of the equator.
In the whole of FGV, when adding the services of the TRAM d’Alacant and the 471,466 of Metrovalencia, the figure reaches 626,054 circulations and more than 9 million kilometres traveled.
With these data, FGV calculates that it avoids annually more than 65 million trips in private vehicles that involve the non-emission into the atmosphere of more than 100,000 tons of CO2.
