ALTEA will resonate to classical music next March.
The town is hosting the first edition of the Beatik Altea Festival (BAF) between March 7th and 15th, an initiative combining classical music with masterclasses from internationally acclaimed soloists and teachers.
Aurora Serrat, Altea’s Culture councillor, and BAF organisers Jonathan Rives and Antonio Martinez explained that the festival will enhance the public’s music experience while helping musicians to develop their professional skills as they begin their careers.
Its other objective was to offer great concerts to classical music lovers, they said. For nine days next March, Altea will be a centre for concerts, masterclasses and talks. It will also introduce Beatik, an app created by the University of Jaen that enables musicians to read a score handsfree, with page-turning software that adjusts to their playing in real-time.
There will be masterclasses in piano, cello, oboe, violin, viola, flute and clarinet from musicians and teachers from the Colburn School (Los Angeles), the Universitat der Kunste-Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra, the Hochschule fur Musik Theaten und Medien (Hannover and the Habs Eiser Hochschule (Berlin) amongst others.
The masterclasses will be given at Villa Gadea and Altea’s municipal Conservatoire while the concerts will be held at the Palau. More information is available from the www.beatikalteafestival.com website.
