GUARDIA CIVIL have arrested a man who had allegedly just assaulted a woman who was walking along the promenade of Torrevieja on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
At around 7.30 am yesterday the man stole the bag of a 43-year-old woman. According to the victim’s description, it was a fairly large man who had assaulted her from behind and, after grabbing her by the arms, threw her to the ground and snatched her bag.
After searching the area, the Guardia Civil found the alleged perpetrator and, after a cursory search, found the stolen mobile phone, documents in the victim’s name and €230 in cash in his trouser pocket.
In one of the adjacent streets, the bag was found, which the alleged perpetrator had disposed of after keeping the valuables. All these items were returned to their rightful owner.
The detainee, a 36-year-old Senegalese, has been remanded in custody awaiting trial.
