THE Benalmadena Council has spent €120,000 on purchasing new equipment for the local fire brigade to ensure that they and residents are kept as safe as is possible.

Mayor Victor Navas when announcing this purchase said “This latest  batch of material includes infrared cameras, sensors, stabilizers, different  pieces of equipment with the most current technology in other words, tools that will ensure that the work of the firefighters can be carried out in the best possible conditions.”

He added “From now on each firefighter will be able to carry his or her own thermal vision camera, which is an essential safety guarantee for each professional. In addition, until now fires below ground level were a problem because it was not easy for us to remove the smoke. Now we have new machinery capable of evacuating large amounts of smoke in a very short time. ”

This news came soon after local firemen attended a number of reported domestic incidents over the Christmas period.
