THE National Police have confirmed that a car found submerged underwater in Ligo, Spain, belongs to the man who was reported missing by his family almost 2 weeks ago.
Alejandro Meitín San Isidro, 34, disappeared on December 15 after going out for dinner with his co-workers. His failure to return home sparked an outpouring of concern from the local community, with his family desperately appealing for information on the whereabouts of Alejandro.
However, the police confirmed yesterday (December 27), that they had pulled the missing man’s grey Ford Fiesta from the waters of Port Viveiro after a maritime worker reported the finding. Sources close to the investigation say the car had its handbrake on, its lights were off although activated, and that all of its windows were lowered.
Alejandro was not found inside the vehicle and the police have now deployed a team of specialist divers to search the surrounding waters. A spokesman for the National Police stated that the finding was ‘particularly strange’ and believe that Alejandro’s car may have fallen into the water and was then swept away by a strong current.
