STREET signs have gone high-tech in Vera.
In a project which is a collaboration between the council’s Tourism and Trade and New Technologies departments, the local authority has installed 12 interactive digital information panels.
The aim is to promote traditional traders and promote economic development in the town.
“This measure, as well as revitalizing the historic commercial centre, will expand on the face-to-face service the municipal tourist offices and information points offer, covering the needs of residents and tourists 24-hours a day, every day of the year, and becoming an essential tourist agent support for the municipality”, commented Vera Tourism councillor Catiana Soriano.
The eight exterior and four interior panels are strategically located in the main tourist and commercial hubs and in different buildings of municipal interest.
“They will be used to promote the most important social, cultural, sport, and particularly business, events and activities”, explained Trade councillor Ana Lourdes Ramirez.
The panels will, she also revealed, “serve as a promotional platform for the municipal traders’ association, as they will be able to be used for multimedia marketing actions.”
New Technologies councillor Belen Carnicer added that the supports give users a wireless municipal internet connection and will send notifications to passers-by with information on points of tourism interest, establishments and commercial offers.
The more than €90,000 investment in the digital panel project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund via the Chamber of Commerce for measures to modernise trade in the small business sector.
