The town hall’s Urban Development department is supervising renovations at the municipally-owned Villa Gadea cultural centre. Work is concentrating on waterproofing the roof, which was very deteriorated and leaking, and replacing damaged tiles, explained Urban Development councillor, Jose Orozco. The €200,000 renovations, which have been subsidised by the regional government’s Culture department, are being carried out in accordance with official standards required for buildings which, like Villa Gadea, are listed as Assets of Local Relevance. The public toilets are also being modernised and modified to make them fully accessible to those with mobility problems. “Work is progressing on time and should be finished within weeks,” Orozco said.
