Friends and colleagues of Asturian worker who died in Marbella have said their emotional goodbyes after the devastating accident. The death of Joaquín Gonçalves Cañadas, who lost his life when he was working in a tunnel in Marbella, has been a serious blow for his friends and family.
The 40-year-old man was killed after being hit on the head with a drilling machine in the Nagüeles tunnel, on the AP-7 motorway passing through Marbella. Joaquin was a native Asturian but had been living in Mieres for years.
His friends and two children were left devastated by the sudden news. One of his closest friends expressed her sorrow and said that he was the most hard-working person she knew. She reflected on the irony of the situation as she assured that she couldn’t believe he had died whilst working and said one final goodbye to everyone’s ‘little crazy head’. The funeral was held on Saturday, December 21 at the church of Santa María de Llugo de Llanera in Asturias
