TWENTY students of the María Zambrano Secondary School Institute of Torre del Mar have visited the Hospital de La AxarquIa, with the objective of getting to know the operation of a hospital, its values and its main organizational characteristics.
The young people, who are studying for their Tourism Accommodation Management Technician first and second degree, have been accompanied by their tutors and health centre staff on a tour of some of the hospital areas such as the kitchen and laundry units. In each of these units, students have had the opportunity to talk with the professionals of the centre, who have explained to them how they develop their daily work and what their functions are, in addition to responding to the questions raised by the students about their training and experience.
According to Elena Martínez, one of the teachers of the students, “With this type of visits, students can know, on the spot, the daily work that these professionals carry out within a health centre and thus orient themselves in their decision about their future work”. This is one more initiative that the Malaga-Axarquía Health Area conducts annually, and which aims to open its doors to show visitors, in this case the youth, the organization and operation of the Andalucian public health system.
