THE ANDALUCIAN Board has granted the Nerja Council, through the Ministry of Tourism, a subsidy of €352,321.28 for the acquisition of material and machinery that improves accessibility, cleanliness and safety for the beaches in the area. It is the only municipality on the Costa del Sol Oriental-Axarquía that has achieved this funding.
Among the items to be purchased will be a jet ski and a rescue vessel to improve safety, two tractors, and other material related to the cleaning and hygiene of the coast, platforms for improving accessibility, showers with footbaths, informative signs, and an ecological island for Maro beach.
The councillor of Beaches, Francisco Arce thanked the municipal technicians for the work done in the process of this aid. “The execution period is six months, so all this equipment will be operational in the next summer season, for the enjoyment of the people of Nerja and our visitors,” he said.
