CONTINUING with a number of new and exciting developments in the municipality of San Fulgencio since the new administration took over in June this year, the ‘Policia en tu Hogar’ (Police in your Home) scheme was officially launched on Tuesday.
Security of property is an important aspect for residents and business owners alike, and this pioneering initiative aims to give peace of mind when homes or premises are vacant due to holidays.
If people are going to be away from a minimum of 15 days to a maximum of three-months, they will be able to inform the Local Police in total confidence of their absence by completing a simple form available in the Tourist Information Office. The most important details will be supplying a name and telephone number of someone living in the area that can be called in case of an emergency and act on the owners’ behalf.
Joining the Mayor of San Fulgencio, José Sampere Ballester, accompanied by Councillors Samantha Hull and Darren Parmenter was the Chief of Local Police Cristobal Rodriguez Espinosa, who with the help of his team came up with this idea.
“We are aware that many of our local residents take regular holidays and leave their homes and businesses unattended,” said Chief Rodriguez. “This new service isn’t a 24-hour surveillance by the Local Police, but knowing when and where people are away will allow the regular patrols to keep an eye on things from time to time. Having a friend, relative or neighbour in their area will be invaluable if we have to take any action following an incident of any kind.”
Anyone living in San Fulgencio can take advantage of the ‘Policia en tu Hogar’ scheme as from now on, with full details available in the Tourist Information Office and via the website at www.sanfulgencio.es
