The leading kitchen appliance manufacturer Whirlpool has announced that it has recalled 519,000 Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines over their risk of catching fire, where many expats in Spain and residents in the UK could be affected.
A number of models have been recalled and include machines that were manufactured between 2014 and 2018.
The problem was identified after Whirlpool found a law with the door-locking system that could very likely lead to the washing machines overheating and subsequently catching fire.
Customers are advised to go onto their website where they can check if they appliance has been included in the recall.
As the wave of concern has spread to homeowners, Whirlpool assured that it was working at “full speed” to begin the recall in January of next year.
Until then, customers should unplug the machines and if necessary they can only use it to wash clothes below 20 degrees.
