THE National Police have arrested a man who was notorious for his extensive history of stealing from passengers at San Son Joan Airport in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. After a series of robberies were committed at the airport this year, officers launched an investigation to find out who was the perpetrator of the crimes. Through analysing CCTV footage, officers discovered a familiar face – a man that was very well known to the police and had no legal right to remain in Spain. The 38-year-old immigrant of Algerian nationality had been arrested in the past for multiple thefts at the check-in desks, however he had found a new way of operating this time by dressing as a tourist donned with sunglasses, a cap and bags. After his arrest last week, the man was remanded in custody on the order of a judge from Palma Court where after his conviction he will likely be expulsed from the country and be prohibited to return.
