THE City Council of Santa Margalida have announced that the work for a new outdoor swimming pool in Can Picafort in Mallorca, Spain, will begin next year. In aim of catering to the needs of residents and attracting tourists to the area, the council have assigned a total of €1.9 million for the heated pool which will be located next to Can Picafort Sports Centre. The council will also lay down new lawn and install energy efficient lighting at Can Picafort and Santa Margalida football fields. As well as the refreshed sporting facilities, €3.5 million will be spent on projects related to sustainability, energy saving and water leaks across the municipality. One of the initiatives includes changing the lights on public streets with LED bulbs in a move that that aims to be less harmful to the environment.
