ONCE again, in the period between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, the Alicante Council has arranged with the firefighters from the Ildefonso Prats Fire Station to invite families learn about the work that goes on there.
It will take place over December 26 to 30 where visitors, especially children, will be allowed to see everything in the Fire Station, climb onto the vehicles, try on helmets, see how the equipment works and this year learn to cook.
The station will be open from 11am until 1pm and 5pm to 7pm and on the final Monday, there will be a special event entitled Cooking with the Family where a practical demonstration on how to produce healthy and nutritional food will take place with the fireman showing the way.
For this event, which takes place between 11am and 1.30pm, it is necessary to register in advance by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 27 and if selected, those attending will not only be invited to take part in the actual preparation of the food but will also get the opportunity to taste it.
The only entry fee is a new packaged toy or a selection of non-perishable food which will be passed by the council to participating charities who will arrange for all of the items to be given to families locally who are in need and to ensure that as many children as possible receive a new toy from the Three Kings.
In the past, thousands of gifts of toys and food have been collected from the many visitors who want to see how the fire brigade works and the officers look forward to welcoming another full house.
