ALFAZ’S Tourism and Beaches councillor Luis Morant attended the Climate Change Summit held recently in Madrid. He was there, Morant explained, to consolidate Alfaz’scommitment towards complying with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. The agenda has 17 aims that include putting an end to poverty, reducing inequality between countries, promoting responsible production and consumption and revitalisingthe global partnership for sustainable development. Alfaz has been observing many of these goals for years with projects like Sustainable Alfazand Healthy Alfaz as well as its active integration policies, Morant declared.“Alfaz has one of this country’slargest communities of non-Spanish residents,” hesaid.“We pride ourselves on actively defending our natural heritage by contributing to the conservation of the Sierra Helada national park,” the councillor continued.“For these reasons and for established projectson equality and inclusion, Alfaz has long been committed to complying with Agenda 2030’s objectives,” Morant continued. “The municipality’s presence at the Madrid summit with its warnings of grave problems and the debate over finding solutions is clear proof of this,” he said.
