RESTRICTIONS on agricultural water use will remain in place despite the flooding experienced by the region.
The governing board of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS), agreed to maintain the overall reduction in water for irrigation by 18 per cent.
Reservoirs in the basin which includes the Segura, Mundo and Quipar river systems have 318 hm3 of water, which is about 28 per cent of their capacity and the area is officially on drought alert.
The Governing Board also reported on the inspection work being carried out in the vicinity of the Mar Menor, which is suffering from a serious environmental problem.
So far in 2019, the CHS has sent to the Directorate General of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Directorate General of the Mar Menor of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment of the Region of Murcia, a total of 78 files, corresponding to 1,157.79 hectares on how to restore the land to natural conditions.
