THE Spanish town of Xàbia in Costa Blanca has initiated proceedings against the ever increasing fly-tipping which in the face of constant abuse offers a ‘terrible public image’ as stated by the Town Hall.

The surveillance and inspection area of the Department of Services of Xàbia in Spain has opened in recent months almost a hundred disciplinary proceedings for infringement of the rules of use in ‘green points’  in the municipality.

The majority of the infringements are from ‘gardeners’ who dump their waste, as well as individuals who disorderly dump ‘furniture’ or ‘equipment’ outside of designated containers.

The City Council has reinforced its vigilance in these spaces in the face of constant abuses which leaves a terrible public image despite being emptied twice a day.

As Euro Weekly News confirms, the rules for the use of these spaces are regulated by the Municipal Ordinance of Citizen Coexistence and Security and non-compliance can lead to penalties of up to 750 euros.
