PLANS have been unveiled for a €200 million shopping centre with an 11-storey hotel in Elche on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
The complex, which they want to start building in two years next to the Mesalina area, will have shops, cinemas, restaurants and coworking areas.
The project is being promoted by local businessman Manuel Roman, Comerplast and Plasticos Elche, and will be developed through Altabix Real Estate. It is planned to cover a plot of 124,000 square metres located between the N-340 and the east ring road, the EL-20.
Mayor of Elche, Carlos Gonzalez, said the council looks favourably on the project, but it will need to comply with all planning regulations.
The area is classified as industrial and commercial land in the General Urban Development Plan and currently has several buildings that will disappear. Plans are for 70,086 square metres indoors plus green areas and parking.
Architect Fernando García has presented an initial idea for the scheme.
