A GUARDIA Civil patrol had to go to the assistance of a driver who got stuck in snow and ice in Calar Alto in Gergal.
The 50-year old driver from Almeria city found himself unable to move his vehicle while driving on a mountain road on Monday afternoon.
When officers got to the motorist he was getting pretty anxious. There was no mobile coverage in the area, and he had hurt his hands trying to break the ice and free his vehicle.
He thought he was going to have to spend the night there.
Getting a tow-truck out to move the car was clearly not going to be possible. Instead, the officers used spades to remove the ice.
Finally after a two-hour effort they managed to get the car back on its way.
