DURING a routine breathalyser test performed by the Civil Guard an individual, who had been stopped by the agents, refused to undergo the corresponding test and became aggressive.
One agent suffered a sprained wrist from a fall when pushed by the aggressor and the other agent needed stitches to his ear and chin after allegedly being punched twice in the face by the same individual.
As Euro Weekly News has been able to confirm, the events occurred in the early hours of last Monday in the town of Alta Axarquía.
With great difficulty, the agents were able to immobilize and arrest the alleged aggressor, who offered great resistance at all times. The individual, a 30 year old mechanic from the area, was accompanied by his girlfriend, and is being investigated for an alleged crime against law enforcement officers and another for reckless driving.
According to reports, this is not the first time that the aggressor has had a traffic altercation with the agents of the Civil Guard who patrol the municipality, although until now he had not physically assaulted anyone.
The mayor, Rafael Torrubia (PSOE), lamented the incident and wished “a fast recovery to the injured agents”
