AGE Concern held its Annual Bag Packing at Iceland Overseas on Saturday, raising €500 for the charity.

Volunteers took shifts to help the droves of shoppers passing through the tills.

The cash will help the charity fight loneliness and isolation in the communities it serves.

Age Concern’s Steve Marshall said: “From the English speaking communities in Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmadena – thank you all, and a big thank you to David and his team at the Mijas store for all their help on the day.”

The charity has also announced that an abseiling challenge down the side of the Sunst Beach hotel in Benalmadena – which included a team from the Euro Weekly News – raised more than €1,700 for Age Concern.
