TOURIST COMMERCE… Shopkeepers’ association AICO wants regulation of the image presented by local businesses. “Benidorm shops are split into traditional commerce, tourist-orientated commerce and mixed commerce where traditional shops also cater for tourism,” said Aico president Raul Parra. “Most tourist shops concentrate on impulse buys and occasional purchases,” he pointed out. “They don’t bother about image or client loyalty.” “This was particularly noticeable in the Rincon de Loix and in Avenida Jaime I on the other side of town,” added Para, called on the town hall to introduce bylaws that would regulate the quality of facades, shop fronts, shop windows and shop signs.
