Costa del Sol: Fatal collision near Carratraca

ONE person has died and another has been seriously injured in a traffic accident this Sunday on the A-357, near Carratraca.

Emergency services received a call at 8 am, to report a head-on collision between a small van and a car. Civil Traffic Guard officers, members of EPES and firefighters rushed to the scene as they warned that there were people trapped.

Sources form the fire brigade informed 112 that they have made two rescues, one in each vehicle affected by the accident. The Civil Guard has confirmed that the event has resulted in one death, and serious injury to a 31-year-old man who has been transferred to the Regional Hospital of Malaga.

Since then four people, three men and one woman, have also been injured in another accident on the same road, in a collision between two motorcycles. Also, just over a month ago three people lost their lives on the same stretch of motorway.
