ONCE AP-7 motorway tolls are eliminated in January, seven Marina Alta town halls will lose out financially. Calpe is one of them, as it has received IBI rates from Aumar -the concessionary that currently runs the motorway -ever since the Altea-Ondara section of the AP-7 opened in 1979.From January 1 2020, the motorway reverts to the state and approximately 50 Valencian Community municipalities whose land is crossed by the AP-7 will be in the same situation as Calpe, Benissa, Gata, Pedreguer, Ondar, El Verger and Els Poblets. The Valencia region’s Camara de Contratistas (Chamber of Contractors) estimates that the state stands to lose an annual €150 million in IBI, IRPF income tax, IVA value-added tax and Aumar employees’ Social Security payments.Despite the loss of income, Marina Alta town halls welcome the lifting of tolls, which all the municipalities have long been requesting.
