60 ANNIVERSARY: The Mayor inaugurated the Nativity Scene
President of the Provincial Government of Alicante, Carlos Mazón, has inaugurated the traditional Exhibition of Nativity Scenes at the Provincial Palace. The Association of Alicante Nativity scenes are commemorating their 60 Anniversary as they pay tribute to the legendary tradition and to the expert craftsmen who assemble the spectacular displays every Christmas. ‘Alicante is Bethlehem’ is the name given to the three magical displays that have been unveiled for Christmas. The main Nativity scene dominates the hall and represents the escape to Egypt and the birth of Jesus. Two paintings accompany the scene depicting the biblical moments. A third painting illustrates the famous dream of Saint Francis, who is patron saint of the association. Visitors will be able to see the intricate displays from 10am to 1pm and from 5pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday and opening hours on Sundays change to 11am to 2pm in the morning.
