Extra cost for public purse: Stoppage to work a decade ago. SOURCE: Alimarket
A DELAY by the Ayuntamiento de Málaga in granting authorization required for work on the Metro in January 2010 has resurfaced as an extra cost of €347.617 to the public purse some years later.
The Junta de Andalucía has had to pay to the company Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos, as compensation for almost three months in which the work was suspended. That is to say, that each day elapsed without work has ended up causing a penalty close to €4,300 per day.
The total suspension of the works was confirmed by the signing of an act on August 6, 2009, “The suspension being not attributable to the contractor, but to external causes due to lack of authorizations “. The restart order does not take place until November 16, 2009.
This is one of the judicial decisions that last week was collected by the Minister of Development, Marifrán Carazo, as part of the 3.8 million already paid to companies linked to work on the Metro for claims taken to court, of which €2.8 million has been paid to Ortiz.
