The town hall at La Torreta, Costa Blanca will award Dr Estefania Gomiz Ortiz and Jorge Navarro Roldan with Corporate Medals for saving a woman’s life.
Under Spanish regulations, Dr Gomiz had been chosen at random to preside one of the electoral tables for the general election on November 10.
La Torreta social centre was being used as a polling station and shortly before 5pm a woman, an assistant at another electoral table, was taken ill and collapsed.
Dr Gomez immediately went to her aid, assisted by Navarro Roldan, a medical student who had gone there to vote.
Together they carried out CPR on the woman until she had regained consciousness and kept her stable while waiting for the SAMU ambulance to transfer her to hospital.
Councillors of all parties voted unanimously in favour of the awards, which will be presented to Dr Gomiz and Navarro Roldan during the official Constitution Day ceremony at the Castillo on the 6th of December.
