Costa del Sol news: Flavours of Málaga Fair is a gourmand’s paradise

GOURMET: Chef demonstration in a previous Fair

THE PASEO DEL PARQUE in the capital’s city centre is once again hosting the Flavour of Málaga Gastronomic Fair. More than one hundred food stalls will participate in the seventh edition of the fair, which will stretch over the long weekend bank holiday.

The 2019 Gastronomy Fair will showcase a 400 kilo ‘ensaladilla’ of Málaga, the typical potato and mayonnaise salad. According to organisers, this ensaladilla will be the biggest in the world. The official opening will take place at 4pm on Thursday, December 5 at the Eduardo Ocón Auditorium.

On Friday and Saturday there will be musical acts performing from 7:30pm onwards and the Spanish Association Against Cancer will set up an area to raise funds. The market will be open to the public from 11am to 9pm and participating companies include oil mills, wineries, cheese factories, distilleries and bakeries.

In addition, organisers have programmed almost 40 different activities that will also take place over the five days. They include live cooking demonstrations by Málaga chefs, product presentations such as a whiskey cream made with Málaga goat milk, honey and cocktail making workshops, craft beer tasting, Christmas sweets and tastings of the best recipes of restaurants from all over the province.

During the Fair, the Town Hall will launch their campaign promoting meat products from the province. The campaign shows a firm commitment to recover the image of the sector that the Town Hall say is a benchmark of quality and prestige. The objective is to help the meat industry to recover after the listeria crisis.
