THE Cataluña-based Pak-i-Care team wereproclaimed Spanish championsin Alfaz in Spain’s National Cricket League final. The Catalan side beat the Levante team with 355 to 85 runs on the scoreboard. The next day it was Levante’s turn to face Minhaj Cricket Club from Barcelona –a selection of the best players from different Catalan teams -in a best-of-three Ten Over series. Levante got off to a slow start and were finally defeated by Minhaj who now go on to represent Spain in next summer’s European Cricket League competition which will be played in La Manga (Murcia) in May 2020.Alfaz’s Sports councillor Oscar Perez congratulated all the participating teams and Pak-i-Care in particular, as well as Alfaz Cricket Club forbeing able to bring some of the best cricket players of the moment to the municipality.The club, which has strong roots in Alfaz was founded 30 years ago, and its president Virginia Muñoz took over from her father 23 years ago. She has also passed on herlove for the sport to her son, Christian Muñoz, who plays for Sporting Alfaz Cricket Club.
