Costa del Sol: Malaga movie awards

THE FILM Academy have announced the definitive list of nominees for the 34th edition of the Goya Awards to be held in the Palaciode los Deportes Martin Carpena, Malaga, on January 25.

“During the war” by Alejandro Amenábar is the favorite film with a total of 17 nominations, followed by “Pain and Glory” by Pedro Almodóvar , which has 16 nominations and “The Infinite Trench” by Aitor Aguirre, Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goneaga, with 15 nominations.

As for the nominees from Malaga, battling for the Goya for Best Actor are Antonio Banderas for “Pain and Glory” and Antonio de la Torre for “The Infinite Trench”.

Banderas is quoted as saying “I want to thank the Film Academy and my classmates for this nomination for my work in “Pain and Glory”, in one of the most beautiful years of my long career. I am also happy for the 16 nominations that the film has received”

Belén Cuesta the Sevillian actress raised and trained in Malaga has been nominated for Best Actress for “The Infinite Trench”, while Malaga’s Mona Martínez is up for Best Supporting Actress for her work in “Goodbye”. 

Among those present at the awards nomination announcements were Pedro Almodóvar and his brother, producer Agustín Almodóvar, along with many other Spanish film artists.
