A 12-YEAR-OLD BOY has died after a horrific hit-and-run near to a school in Loughton in Essex, England.

Police have launched a murder enquiry after the collision took place on Willingale Road close to Debden Park High School at around 3.30pm today (December 2).

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a severe car crash involving a Ford KA which “mounted the pavement” and struck multiple children.

Two 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman were also injured in the incident. All of the teenagers are believed to be pupils at the school.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:

“A 12-year-old local boy was taken to hospital, where he sadly died. A number of other casualties were reported, but none are believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

“They were either treated at scene or were taken to hospital following the incident.

“We are appealing for help to find a silver Ford KA in connection with the collision this afternoon in Willingale Road.

The road remains closed in both directions with police cars circulating the area as they hunt for the driver. Police added that officers “from across the country” are now working to identify the vehicle and its driver, who did not stop at the scene.”

Those who live close to the school are advised to avoid the surrounding areas.
