NEW INVENTION IN SPAIN REMOVES ALCOHOL CONTENT FROM WINE

FOR those that love to indulge in a tipple at Christmas but hate the hangover the next day, you will be pleased to hear that a new machine has been created which can remove alcohol content from wine by up to 30%.

Spanish start-up Alacarte Ventures recently presented their revolutionary machine at the BBVA Bilbao Food Capital, a renowned gastronomical event in Spain. The new invention is capable of reducing the alcohol content of any wine in just five minutes, without compromising on taste.

Its creator, chemist and former Harvard University Professor Pere Castells, has been working on the idea for more than a decade, after wanting to build a machine that could adjust the alcoholic strength of wine according to an individual’s taste.

The Alacarte machine is very simple to use and makes use of an innovative medical technology, similar to that of dialysis. Unlike other industrial processes to de-alcoholise wine, the machine maintains its quality as its composition is not altered.

Castell is currently touring the United States in a bid to entice investors to manufacture the first 1,000 units of the machine which would have an initial retail price of €3,000.
