A LATE night police raid on a nightclub in Barcelona, Spain, has resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals who were living illegally in the country.
As part of an operation by the National Police, officers burst into the popular Moog nightclub in the El Raval district in the early hours of Saturday morning (November 30). They were in fact looking for drug dealers, but instead found multiple people without legal documents to remain in Spain.
Additional body searches of the party revellers also led to 6 further people being arrested for the possession of various narcotics which included ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine.
In a statement from the National Police, they stated that “this type of operation will be repeated in the districts of Ciutat Vella to ensure public safety and order.”
The investigation comes after a police dismantled a criminal gang dedicated to drug trafficking in Sant Roc de Badalona last week, where 40 people were arrested.
