THE trial for the man accused of raping an inmate at a prison in Mallorca, Spain, is underway at Palma Provincial Court.
The incident dates back to July of 2017, when prison guards at Mallorca Penitentiary Centre in Palma de Mallorca found an inmate sexually assaulting the man that he shared a cell with.
As reported by the National Police, the 23-year-old man beat and threatened his cellmate to force him to have sex with him, warning him that if he did not consent, he would make his “life a living hell.” Later that afternoon he raped the man and warned him to remain silent.
The next day, the defendant tried again to sexually assault the man, however, a struggle pursued between the two men, alerting prison guards who separated the cellmates.
The prosecution is asking that the defendant receives a 13-year prison sentence for rape and assault.
