A MAN has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend in the centre of Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The incident occurred on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Police report that the assault began on a stairwell of a well-known shopping centre in the area, when the 20-year-old man launched an attack on a 22-year-old woman. The man grabbed the woman by the neck and began shouting at her. Thankfully, a witness saw what was happening and immediately called the Local Police to report the assault. As officers arrived to the scene, the man reportedly wouldn’t let go of the young woman, where he had to be forcibly removed from her by the the police. We at Euro Weekly News understand that the woman revealed to the police that the man was her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, and that he regularly assaulted her. She showed officers a bite mark on her face which the man had allegedly given her that morning, also detailing that he spat on her and kicked her to the ground. The man has been charged with gender violence and is being detained at a police station in the capital.
