A PEDESTRIAN is in critical condition after being struck by a car which was being chased by police in Abbey Wood, London, England.

The incident occurred during the afternoon of November 26, when an unmarked police car started a pursuit of a vehicle after it failed to stop in the south-east London area.

The driver then mounted a kerb at Harrow Manor Way, crashing into a 47-year-old male pedestrian. The man was rushed by London Ambulance Service to hospital where it is reported that he is in a critical condition after being seriously injured.

We at Euro Weekly News understand that several people witnessed the collision, describing that they had seen a car crash into a lamp post, followed by emergency staff providing urgent medical attention to someone who was pulled from the crash.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken into custody at a south London police station where he has been charged for failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and causing serious injury whilst driving.

We at Euro Weekly News understand that following routine protocol, the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an independent investigation into the pursuit.
