A BRITISH holidaymaker was found drowned in Benalmadena Marina on Spain’s Costa del Sol hours after he got separated from his friends.
Andrew Wallace, 54, from Bolton, was discovered lifeless in the water by a local who was about to go on a boating trip.
He has been reported missing to police by his friends when they couldn’t find him at the hotel they were staying at in the Costa del Sol resort town.
Police are investigating, although sources say there do not seem to be any suspicious circumstances and it would appear to be a tragic accident.
Mr Wallace was found on Saturday morning several hours after he was last seen during a night out with friends and a day before was due to fly back home to Britain
A post mortem examination found he had injuries to his chest and arms, which have been attributed to his attempts to climb out of the water.
It is thought that his son and daughter have flown to Spain to arrange for his repatriation.
A police source was reported in the UK press as saying: “It appears he became separated from the rest of the group at one point and when they couldn’t find him they reported him missing.”
