New recruits for Spanish firefighting services In Spain

TWELVE new recruits have joined the Alicante provincial firefighting team in Spain.

The Provincial Consortium of Firefighters has a new sergeant, a new captain, nine additional firefighters and a new communications operator.

Speaking at the presentation of the new team members, Alicante provincial government in Spain deputy Javier Sendra commented, “We are making a great effort to update our operational personnel team, increasing the number of firefighters and improving staff numbers at fire stations.”

The deputy also highlighted the professionalism and dedication of all the personnel on the consortium.

Fire service chief inspector Jose Francisco Rubio took the opportunity to talk about the excellent work of the Diputacion de Alicante fire service, describing the personnel as “highly qualified professionals who risk their lives every day to help others.”

Three of the additional firefighters will be based in Spain at the Denia fire station, two in Almoradi, one in Orihuela, one in Elda, one in Sant Vicent del Raspeig and one in Cocentaina.

The sergeant and the captain will be based at the Cocentaina station, while the communications operator will work at the Emergencies Coordination Centre.

The Provincial Consortium personnel now number 668 in total at the 13 fire stations located in eight different areas of the province, including a service chief inspector, three officials, 11 sub-officials, 47 sergeants, 81 captains, 504 firefighters and 21 communications operators.
