Reuse of water

IN ITS commitment to the environment use of available resources in a sustainable manner, public water company Acosol, under the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, has implemented the risk system using recycled water in almost all the golf courses in the eleven municipalities that it manages. Up to six million cubic meters of recycled water was used in almost all of the 50 golf courses in the municipalities in 2018.

According to the Andalusian regional regulations for irrigation of these facilities, regenerated waters should be used whenever there are available resources. Application of environmental conservation measures and saving of the water reserves of the La Concepción reservoir are essential requirements for the area in its management through Acosol, a company that was born in 1994 with the aim of optimizing the water supply and sanitation service, and is a pioneer in Europe in the number of golf courses irrigated with reclaimed water.
