Málaga airport loses the only daily direct connection with JFK airport in New York after eleven years of flights. Delta Air Lines has informed that this route will no longer operate during the summer.
The change means bad news for tourism on the Costa del Sol. The airport had been expecting the operator to announce the flight would run all year round. The American company will concentrate their activity in Madrid and Barcelona with flights to New York and Atlanta all year round.
Delta has given no explanations to justify the decision, but the airline has urged customers to continue flying between the Costa del Sol and New York from Madrid and Barcelona or with its partners KLM and Air France through connections in Amsterdam or Paris.
The airline has warned customers with reservations will be relocated on alternative flights and express their regret for any inconvenience caused.
