UK NEWS: PRISON OFFICER ACCUSED OF AN ‘INAPPROPRIATE’ RELATIONSHIP WITH AN INMATE

A prison guard at Britain’s biggest men’s prison has appeared in court today accused of an ‘inappropriate’ relationship with an inmate from the HMP Berwyn.

Full details of the improper relationship at the super jail haven’t yet been outlined.

In fact, as reported by North Wales Live the matter was deemed too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and the defendant was given unconditional bail to appear at Mold Crown Court on December 23.

Prosecutor Robert Blakemore said the prisoner Khuram Razaq, 29, would appear on a video link before magistrates at Wrexham on Wednesday.

The defendant, wearing black trousers, a black shirt and black jacket, spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and her address during the five-minute hearing.

The ‘inappropriate relationship’ is believed to have taken place between July 31 and November 20 last year.

As Euro Weekly News has discovered, this is not the first time a prison officer has been accused of a maintaining a similar inappropriate relationship with an inmate.

According to reports from the BBC, a prison officer who had a sexual relationship with an inmate was jailed for 12 months in April of this year.

In this previous case, prison officer Emily Watson, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct in a public office after the relationship with John McGee, also a prisoner at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham.

The court heard on that occasion how Watson went to McGee’s cell alone on three occasions and they had sex once.
