STRIKING images of the most important events in Andalucia last year are on show in Almeria in a new photography exhibition which runs until the end of the year.
Titled ‘Images of a year’, the exhibition at the Unicaja Foundation Centre in the provincial capital features some 50 images captured by 19 EFE Agency photojournalists.
Subjects include the change of political scene in the Andalucia following the regional elections, the constitution of the Andalucia parliament and the party campaigns.
There are also shots focusing on art, culture, sport and Andalucia’s traditions.
Many of the photos have well-known people as the focus, among them Italian actress Claudia Cardinale when she was in Almeria to receive her ‘Tabernas de Cine’ award.
There are also allusions to tragic events of 2018. One is the case of Gabriel Cruz, the eight-year old boy found dead in Nijar. Another is the death of the young teacher Laura Luelmo in Huelva.
Trials which were in the public eye are another topic, notably that of Juana Rivas, who was tried for failing to hand over her children to their father.
Other photos show the Foreign Legion based in Viator on manoeuvres.
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 1030am to 1.30pm and from 5.15pm to 8.30pm.
